Soil: Poor soil that contains sand, gravel, or clay.

Light Requirement: Full Sun, Part Sun

Spreads via seeds.

Host Plant: caterpillars of  Checkered Skipper sometimes feed on Callirhoe species.

Pollinators: bees

Other Information: Poppy Mallow species are often also referred to as Winecups or Wine Cups for their bloom color and shape.  Long tap root gives this plant good drought tolerance but makes transplanting of established plants difficult.
